University of Washington problem...

I completed the UW application and I now have to send in SAT scores. If I send in the transcript, do the SAT scores automatically go? If not, I know I have to send them through college board for $7. It will then take 3-5 weeks. Will this still be enough time to be considered for admission? Thanks! Lastly, what type of shot do I have?

GPA: 3.5 UW
SAT: 1350 ( Do I take the best of math and verbal?)
Out of State

Are teacher recs needed?

You need to ask your school if your SAT is on the transcript, they're the only ones who know.

If not, then you obviously need to send your scores.

You should ask U of W as well. Some schools don't accept SAT scores on the transcript as the official score and require the scores to be sent from College Board.

I sent my application yesterday and ordered my SAT scores out yesterday as well.

My GPA is 3.32 UW and I have an 1130 SAT so u have a better chance than me :(

I'm also applying out of state.

there should still be plenty of time to send them though college board

You can always ask them if you can send a copy of your score report, and mail them that.

If you didn't notice, UW DOES NOT accept the best of math and verbal. They only take the best scores in one sitting.

i think as long as you sent in the application and send the scores later, it is still ok.

sigh..i still havn't applied yet to Uwash...my SAT is 1370, gpa=3.91, out of state (idaho) i wish uwash was part of the WUE program..that would make my day...

I have 2 at the U-Dub--they have just loved everything about the school. My third just applied (out of state). Her SAT's are on the transcript, but we just assumed they needed to be sent from college board also. No teacher recs needed and dreamkissed is right....one of the only schools I am aware of (besides UC's) that take V and M SATs from only ONE sitting. The freshman information packet says that Dec. is the "last chance" to take SATs, so I am sure it isn't too late. I am guessing, however, that it might delay an admittance offer that might go out earlier, as they begin sending notices after Dec. 1. Good luck to all.

I called UW and they told me that they would not look at my Dec SAT scores, since I've already submitted my application.

(It actually makes sense but I'm going to send them anyway! I figure that since they haven't even STARTED looking at my application, I still have time to send them my scores!)

I visited the campus and it was amazing. I also loved the Seattle area, but I only went for two weeks. I wonder if I will enjoy it for four years. Also, does UW give good financial aid?

it is pretty cheap, for in-staters

My D turned in app early also, but is sending Dec. scores anyway. Same philosophy as dreamkissed--maybe they will see them.
The campus is beautiful, my kids have loved their classes, profs, majors. Both have found niches (very important, because it is a BIG school and easy to feel overwhelmed). They love Seattle and people in the NW.
The school is NOT known for merit aid. I think in-staters have a great deal, and I know that there are several large organizations (Costco?) that have need based scholarships available. Go to the UW financial aid page for possibilities.
