UW was my top choice, but we visited and me and my mom both didn't get a great feeling. Was it just a fluke and the campus is fun or is it really boring? I'm from California and I just didn't feel like I fit in there. Would the fraternaties be good for me to get a better vibe?Went to University of Oregon next and LOVED it. Any thoughts on these topics would be appreciated.

didn’t like UW but loved UO? unusual.

My dd (from California) selected UW over Oregon (as well as other Caii school). She joined a sorority and has loved her time at UW. She studied in New Zealand, created an independent study project so she could work at a school in DC, and is graduating on time with a double major, a minor and a job. Her complaints: the rain, and the football team (during her time there…although they did beat 'SC this year). There’s nothing you can do about the rain, but the football team is looking up.

Good luck…I know happy kids at both schools. (Nephew at UO).

“but the football team is looking up”

and OU’s, down. hehe

UO’s football team is looking down? What planet are you from? You must overly excited to finally be emerging from the shadow of Don James and Rick Neuweasel.

Really depends on your preference and major. Kids at both UO and UW enjoy great quality of life – Washington has the engineering program though. Eugene is a college town, Seattle is a real city. Again, your choice. I love both, would have attended either had UW been affordable or UO had engineering.

PS – UO’s football is waaay better ;)

I mean, to be honest, the following video is all that needs to be said regarding UO football in comparison to the rapist-playing Huskies.

Personally I’m a bigger fan of the University Of Washington but everybody has their own opinions so if you end up liking Oregon better than maybe you should go there!

From The Princeton Review

University Of Washington
UW students typically “have a good balance in their lives of education and fun.” They “generally study hard and work in the libraries, but once the nighttime hits, they look forward to enjoying the night with their friends.” Between the large university community and the surrounding city of Seattle, undergrads have a near-limitless selection of extracurricular choices. As one student explains, “There are tons of options for fun in Seattle. Going down to Pike’s Market on a Saturday and eating your way through is always popular. There are tons of places to eat on ‘The Ave,’” the shopping district that abuts campus, “and the UVillage shopping mall is a five minute walk from campus with chain-store comfort available. Intramural sports are big for activities, and going to undergraduate theater productions is never a disappointing experience. And during autumn or spring renting a canoe and paddling around lake Washington down by the stadium is fun.” Husky football games “are amazing,” and the Greek community “is very big” without dominating campus social life. In short, “the UW has anything you could want to do in your free time.”

University Of Oregon
Life at UO is amazing all year round, undergrads report. In the fall “there is football, warm but crisp weather, and our campus is gorgeous.” During the winter “there are basketball games and a lot of indoor parties.” Spring and summer “are gorgeous” and the best time to enjoy the area’s many outdoor opportunities, because “the rain keeps people inside during the fall and winter.” Hometown Eugene “is great for the outdoors…. There are mountains to hike, rivers to float, and lakes to swim in all within 15 minutes. The coast is an hour away; the mountains are only an hour away (if you ski during the winter).” The school’s outdoor program “has several trips each week. Depending on the season, they have rock climbing, snow excursions, white water rafting, and camping trips.” Eugene is also great for cultural life. “The Hult Center and other venues host extensive arts and entertainment opportunities including the annual Bach Festival, numerous other music festivals, art walks, the Saturday Market crafts fair-the list is extensive.” Enthusiasm for sports permeates the campus, and “there’s always a party going on” if that’s what you’re looking for. In short, “Whatever interests students hold, Eugene and the university usually have something going on that captures their attention.”

you guys must have forgotten that your quarterback has been suspended for the entire season for robbing his fellow students… but i suppose chip will let him back on sometime, he has a track record at oregon for doing such things of course.

Cool. Ducks went to the Rose Bowl… The huskies went to…? Oh yeah, they suck.

Ducks will win Pac-10 again.

UW is a better school and likely has better architecture. That is undeniable.

It’s just that we have 16 returning starters, including an intact O-Line and the Pac-10 freshman rushing record holder, and that Chip has illustrated adeptness at coaching quarterbacks.

what happened when dixon went down a couple years ago?

oregon players get very upset about losing to boise state

All you U of O fans have no idea what you are talking about. How many players have you guys lost from stupidity this offseason? Your starting quarterback in Jeremiah Masoli, two different wide receivers, and your leading rusher was suspended. You guys should live up you recent success because history is not on your side. How many Consensus All Americans has Oregon had? Only 2. UW has had 20. How many conference titles has Oregon won? Only 8. UW has won 15. How many national titles does Oregon have? ZERO. UW has 4. Oregon cannot even manage to pull out a winning record in Bowl games. You guys even lost to Boise State twice. Will see you on November 6.
