I have a 3.8 unweighted GPA with a total of ten AP classes. I’m currently my hs’s NHS President and member of Jazz band for 3 years, tennis for 3 years, our LGBTQ+ club for 3 years, member of brass choir for 2 years (charity and service club). What are my chances of being accepted to UW?
Hm it might be better if you provide more information? Like SAT scores and weighted GPA, etc. (I wouldn’t know about chancing though since it’s pretty subjective, but I think if you want a more accurate “chance”, then it’s helpful to search up “prepscholar university of washington average gpa” and it should have average sat, act, gpa, etc. And even a calculator thing on the bottom to calculate your chances using those! )
I think you have a solid chance though, their acceptance rate is over 50% according to google lol.
Note that some majors may be considerably harder to be admitted to than the school. It is possible to be admitted undeclared pre-something instead of your major, in which case you may have to face another competitive admission process to get into your major later if you enroll.
Thanks!
Your GPA is around the average of enrolled freshman, so that is good. Your course rigor should also help your chances.
Although you did not mention majors, our officious and prolific poster #3 is referring to the handful (out of the 180) majors that admit a small number of students directly as freshmen: business administration, the engineering majors and music and similar audition based majors. All other freshmen enroll without a declared major and choose their majors later, usually at the end of their freshman or sophomore year. Of course, some majors are easier to enter (and complete) than others.

2: Washington's overall acceptance rate in 2016 was around 45% (62.7% for instate, 39% for OOS/international).
To help you assess your chances, Washington’s Common Data Set reports the unweighted GPA of enrolled freshmen in 2015 as follows:
3.75 to 4.00: 64.24%
3.50 to 3.74: 27.16%
3.25 to 3.49: 6.52%
3.00 to 3.24: 1.52%
Under 3.00: 0.56%
The middle 50% ACT range of enrolled freshmen in 2015 was 26-31.
Good luck!
