GPA: 3.68UW / 4.21W (Predicted Senior Years) GPA as it is Now: 3.64UW/4.20W
A Very big upward trend, my first semester of freshman year was 1 C and 5 Bs. I have gotten a total of 6 Bs and the rest As after that semester.( I took more AP classes as grade level went on as well)
SAT : 1440
I have gotten a 5/4 on all my junior year AP classes (5) however I got 3s on my sophomore year ap test.
It depends some on major, too.
UW direct to CS is a reach for everyone, for example.
The direct to college of engineering is new this year so that’s making it harder to do chances.
Your “predicted GPA” means nothing. It’s your actual GPA when you apply that counts.
Washington’s Common Data Set states that in making admissions decisions, rigor of secondary school record, academic GPA, and application essays are “very important,” and standardized test scores, ECs, talent/ability, first generation, volunteer work, and work experience are “important.” Also “considered” in making admissions decisions are character/personal qualities and state residency.
The 2016-2017 Common Data Set reports the unweighted GPA of enrolled freshmen as follows:
3.75 to 4.00: 65.40%
3.50 to 3.74: 25.96%
3.25 to 3.49: 6.20%
3.00 to 3.24: 1.89%
Under 3.00: 0.55%
Average unweighted HS GPA for enrolled freshmen in 2016 was 3.78. In 2017, it was 3.79.
Washington’s acceptance rate in 2016 was 63.7% for residents and 38.8% for nonresidents (45.3% overall).
The Seattle Times recently reported the average ACT scores of students admitted in 2017 were 29 for residents and 30 for OOS, and the average SAT scores of students admitted were 1289 for residents, 1355 for OOS, and 1364 for international students. About 27.5% of the almost 45,000 applicants were residents, and 72.5% were nonresidents.
Your SAT is above the enrolled student average, but your GPA is below the enrolled student average. Rigor looks good. In sum, as an OOS applicant, “match/low match” is probably about right.
Thank you everyone! I think that since I have a strong upward trend as well it can help compensate for a lower GPA, as I have a GPA in the high 3.7’s and a 4.45W without my one bad semester. I am applying for business and hopefully I can get direct admit (which I sort of doubt) but I will glady try to transfer into foster after freshman year (if I go to UW/get into to UW)
@AroundHere I have only taken 5 classes, and we have finals next week, all my grades are high A’s, and in order to get All a’s the first semester of senior year I need to get like a 67 percent on each final (finals are worth 10 percent at my school and an A on transcript is a 93, I have all 96s) so that is my I said predicted, it is pretty much a guarantee.
