University of Wisconsin-Madison vs. Santa Clara University? Please help!

The governor of WI has recently announced that he wants to cut the U of WI budget by more than 10%. This could seriously affect your educational experience there if those cuts go through.

Frankly, you can’t go wrong here. I have some relatives who are SCU graduates, some UW graduate friends, and know kids currently at each of the schools.

If you like the west coast vibe and want to be surrounded by the entrepreneurial spirit of Silicon Valley, plus the security of direct entry to business, then SCU. If you want a big research institution with Big-10 football and a marching band, then UW.

happymom, I am glad you brought that up. The university and its alumni and other supporters are fighting the cuts tooth and nail but Walker only cares about Walker, not education at any level. He fancies himself to be the next Ronald Reagan and thinks the cuts to UW are a “big, bold” statement that will help him reach his ultimate dream. Even some prominent Republicans in the legislature are opposing this move, because it will be bad for the university, its students, and the state’s economy.

Bump

Take a look at the rankings below. SCU has a very strong, even prestigious reputation among companies in Silicon valley which is a prime area for jobs. Moreover, the focus on undergrad education cannot be discounted.
