University Policy Re: Fraternities

What is Stony Brook's policy re: fraternities (and perhaps sororities if their rules are the same)? I'm aware that in some universities the policy of only joining one fraternity is the rule, whereas with others a student can join more than one fraternity, as long as each fraternity is of a different type (i.e. joining one Honors fraternity and one social-type fraternity). Also, what is the policy regarding joining a fraternity at Stony while still a member of a local social fraternity (i.e. Sigma Theta Rho of NYC, which helps disadvantaged kids)?

Thanks to anyone who can offer a response. Maybe Stony Brook can update their Fraternities/Sororities page to include this info (or maybe I'm just not looking hard enough?).

Those are really good questions. If a student comes in with an answer, great; if not, I’ll pass the question along to Student Activities and post what I discover.
