Hello all! To be frank, I'm stumped to where I want to go and have a fairly small list of colleges I'm considering; I'd like to have some outside input to look at since nearly all the input I get from my family and counselor is on nearby colleges ( I swear they're working together ).
I'm currently considering-
University of Colorado- Boulder
University of Central Florida
Florida State University

My GPA is a 3.675 and my Weighted GPA is a 3.825 ( it dropped from a 4.2 due to my move from Florida to Colorado and the different grading policies which my counselor will address in a letter; I also may address it via essay ). SAT I have a composite score of 1310 (690 in Reading and 640 in Math) as well as a 580 in writing. I passed my AP Language & Composition test with a score of 4 and am currently taking AP Calculus, AP Government, AP Geography, and AP Literature and Composition. I never really volunteered much, however I did do roughly 80 hours of community service when I was in Nicaragua this past summer.

I'm not too picky with school size, though I do prefer urban areas. I'm not completely decided on a major, but I am looking into Graphic Design or Computer Science and I swerve back and forth between the two. I'd like a LGBT friendly school with a sense of community, not solely academic driven.

Thanks; I appreciate any suggestions, even any hints to help narrow down on colleges without the process being overwhelming! :)

Can your family afford a school in FL (for which you would pay out of state rates)? What’s wrong with Colorado State?

Yes, I don’t believe the out of state rates will be an issue. My father still lives in Florida and is more than willing to help out with any rates so I believe I will be secure if I do decide to attend a university in Florida.
Honestly it’s difficult to decide between CU and CSU, I plan to visit both campuses very soon to either make a decision or to stick both on my list. I’ve just been trying to prevent my list of universities from growing overbearingly large! Haha

I will!
That’s good to know, I’ve already sent an e-mail to UCF making sure though.
Thanks for the suggestion! However, I don’t think an online education will sit well with me, I’ve tried taking courses for high school online and had some difficulty with them.

The link may go to an E-School but it was the one directly placed on the FSU web site. It apparently applies to all Florida schools.

Apparently University Colorado-Boulder is more liberal than CSU/Fort Collins, so if LGBT concerns are a factor, it may be a better “fit”. I agree with Erin’s Dad above, do visit, sit in on classes, listen to students in the cafeteria, look at posters advertising events, etc.
For Computer Science, Colorado School of Mines is a great school:
[Electrical Engineering & Computer Science at CSM](<a href=“Home - Electrical Engineering”>Home - Electrical Engineering)
Have you checked out Colorado College (“block plan”, Colorado Springs) and University of Denver?

Why UCF in particular and no other “directional” Florida schools (FAU, USF, etc)?

I assume you’re not too interested in Florida’s private colleges - do you have Bright Futures?
(In CO, it may make sense to compare costs - no matter what, run the Net price calculators on all college websites)
