Schools:

Case Western Reserve Univ. - PPSP Medicine (8year med program)
Ohio State - Columbus
Johns Hopkins Univ.
Cornell Univ.
Washington U. @ St.L

Major: Molecular Biology/Biology or BME

Does anyone recommend ED for any schools since I will likely not make it into the PPSP

sorry also in NHS and Mu Alpha Theta junior and senior year.

bump off the third page

I doubt you will get into Case because of the GPA, but your SAT score is outstanding.

Case (PPSP)--Reach
Ohio State-Match
John Hopkins--Slight Reach
Cornell--Slight Reach
WUSTL--Slight Reach to Reach

Also, I'd consider applying to TCNJ--both to their 7-year medical program (which admits a very, very limited number of high school students), and to the regular school (85% of TCNJ's graduates who later apply to medical school are accepted--about the highest rate for a non-Ivy school)

Here's the link to their 7-year program info:

Good luck.

Definetly in Ohio State. Teh others will be reaches

im guessing that you're chancing Case on the PPSP and not regular? My sister had a similar gpa and lower test scores with nearly identical ecs and got in with a merit scholarship.

Case Western Reserve Univ. - PPSP Medicine (8year med program) - unsure
Ohio State - Columbus - in
Johns Hopkins Univ. - slight reach
Cornell Univ. - slight reach
Washington U. @ St.L - slight reach

Is it worth it to try Early decision at any of the reach schools or should I just hope for the best?

Case Western Reserve Univ. - reach
Ohio State - Columbus - match
Johns Hopkins Univ. - slight reach
Cornell Univ. - slight reach
Washington U. @ St.L - reach

it's reach for some schools because your gpa's not that good, but i think your awesome SAT and ACT scores definitely boost the chances!
i say washington u @ st. louis is a reach instead of slight reach because WU considers GPA very important.
good luck!

Case Western Reserve Univ. - Match
Case Western Reserve Univ. - PPSP Medicine (8year med program)Reach
Ohio State - Columbus - Match
Johns Hopkins Univ. - Low-ish Reach
Cornell Univ. - Reach
Washington U. @ St.L - Reach

I think with your exceptional test scores and equally exceptional EC's you are qualified for and have a good shot at all the schools you mention. I would recommend, however, that you expand your list to include more schools because so many of the top applicants apply to the top schools that, with your gpa, I'm afraid your acceptances may be pretty hit or miss. (I do think that your rank puts your gpa into perspective though.) Also, you should definitely get that Case application in by their non-binding early acceptance deadline so that you know before Christmas (and, hopefully, have an acceptance in hand while you wait to hear from the others).

I'd go ED to Wash U or JHU both are excellent schools for medical school placement. JHU is basically the place for BME.

Case Western Reserve Univ. - PPSP Medicine (8year med program) - reach
Ohio State - Columbus - in
Johns Hopkins Univ. - a bit of a reach
Cornell Univ. - reach
Washington U. @ St.L - reach

Case Western Reserve Univ. PPSP Med- extreme reach
(they only let like 20 students into their PPSP Med)
Ohio State - Columbus - match
Johns Hopkins Univ. - slight reach
Cornell Univ. - slight reach
Washington U. @ St.L - slight reach

I can see you getting into that least one of those slight reaches. I'd go for ED for one of them to improve your chances. As for Case Western if you want to get into their PPSP you have to apply regular decision and you can't do it early action. Don't bank on Case though.

the PPSP deadline is the same time as the early action deadline and I'm not really expecting to make it in but I thought I could give it a shot since I'm applying there anyways. What similar schools could I apply to that are somewhere inbetween my match and reach. A school thats around the level as UMich but isn't UMich.

I'm also afraid not having visited jhu cornell or wustl and only knowing them on accounts of friends who go there, that ED would be a bad idea. I'm pretty content with going to Case if i dont get into any of the other schools because of the merit scholarships i could possibly get for my test scores but i think that if i do get in at any of the 3 more selective schools i'll just visit and then commit afterwards to make sure i want to go there...

Try visiting the site, Uchance.com - Home If you plug in your stats (GPA, SAT, etc.) it will calculate your statistical chance of being accepted. It doesn't take into account extracurriculars and essays but it's good for understanding what kind of chance you have at different schools. Hope this helps and good luck!
