Unofficial number of applicants for the freshman class at USC entering in August 2014 is 51,000.

@GeorgiaGirl, Where can I go to see the unofficial numbers for transfer applicants?

Unofficial SAT average this year: 2250 According to my friend who was listening to 2 admissions office people on the train home today and one complaining that only one of her kids will be able to make it in, lol

^I’m skeptical of that number that was the 75 percentile for admits last year, no way can that be the average for the applicants, USC just gets too many applicants, that would mean a huge portion of the students scoring that and above would have had to apply to USC. That is an HYP like number, I would reason that could be the average for the admits but not for the overall applicant pool.

Deleted post.

I took it as the admitted class. It surprises me, though I don’t track USC numbers. Just a friend eavesdropping on the train as I said. One person was telling another and commenting that only one of her kids was likely to get in, in future and take advantage of her employee discount. I asked if friend was sure and she said she stored the number away because we have a young friend applying this year. Could be completely misheard, however, just thought it a juicy tidbit of gossip. Now that I think about it, sounds too early. Maybe this is just the first round of admits?

Possibly for those who were offered merit scholarships. In that scenario those numbers make sense.

At Trustee 2, admissions stated that the median SAT for merit scholarship finalists was 2330 -or something like that, I can’t remember the exact last two digits. Definitely 2300+ though. 2250 seems like a reasonable average/mean for that group.

Just left the Trustee 2 session. 2320 is the mean for the Trustee invites, definitely not the entire class, but even that number seemed a little bit high to me after talking to several of the other Trustee candidates. But then again, there were MANY Viterbi candidates so that might skew the numbers for some of the other schools…

35 was the average ACT! (edited to say that the average is for the Trustee finalists)

veritasrmc and dragonflymusic, thanks for posting those numbers. Every year, we try to explain how competitive the top merit awards really are, and we often equate it with the qualifications of being admitted to the most selective universities in the country. While the process is holistic, and some of the portfolio or audition based majors may average a little lower on these traditional stats because the applicant more than makes up for their numbers with their creative accomplishments, it is a very exceptional group of admits. Naturally, this is just the crowd that USC is hoping to woo by showing them how awesome the academic and research opportunities are at USC, how a very diverse and accomplished group of students fits so well on campus, and… by showing them the money.
