****UNOFFICIAL Class of 2015 National Merit Finalist Thread****

I had that “no more changes” pages, but only for a day. I think it was a temporary thing? The next day, it reverted back to the previous page, that said the contest was closed, but no good info. We did finally get our college offer on Friday on the website. Our letter should come some time next week.

Received letter and accepted the University scholarship on portal today. Finally done. Thank you NMSC and Florida Incentive <3. Best of luck to everyone.

@Cshecmia Congratulations on reaching the satisfying end of the mind-wearying process of getting to NMS!

Also, my portal has now been changed back to how it was in May. Maybe it’s getting close to being updated with a scholarship? Maybe? Just maybe? Come on NMSC… you can do it!

Hooray!!! I got my official college sponsored award!!! FINALLY…

@albert69 best news I’ve heard all week! So happy for you! Congrats!

@albert69 Congratulations! Good things come to those who wait!! After this award, will you have any college expenses at all?!

@veggylover It doesn’t change the amount I get as part of my scholarship - WSU will simply reduce the amount they are giving me by $1000 per year. Tuition, fees, room & board, and some (not all) of book costs are covered. There will still be transportation costs and costs to get everything I need for my dorm. Stuff like that, but not the actual cost of attending the college.

@albert69 - so happy for you, congratulations! Can you clarify which school WSU is?

@4kids2graduate Wichita State U.

@albert69 Way to go, Albert! You have been so supportive of the other members on this thread. Now it’s our turn to celebrate YOU. Best of luck at WSU…have you decided on a field of study yet?

@1974NMS Yes, I’m going into aerospace engineering,

To Infinity and Beyond, then! :wink: You have already proven yourself to be someone others want “along for the ride.”

@1974NMS Thanks! Hopefully NASA will feel that way too. :wink:

@albert69, how long will it take to be a rocket scientist? 4 years? Or will a PhD be in order?

@DiffMom I don’t know. I’ll go for the bachelors first and see what things look like at that point. At this point I don’t want a Ph.D, maybe a Masters, but that could change. I’d also like to work at SpaceX. Or Boeing. Or Spirit. Or Cessna. Or… As you can see, I’m not exactly sure yet what field I want to be in, but I’ll figure it out. I would like to be an astronaut, but there’s a lot of different ways of getting there.

FYI. If your FA dept has professional judgment flexibility, there may be additional funds for which you can apply, ie, computer purchase or travel expense (we are OOS). No guarantee but it is an opportunity.
