My d and i went on an unofficiall visit(3 days). At the end of the visit we met with the coach. She explained about the team my daughter and i asked questions, and the coach said she wanted to recruit my daughter. She said that there would be an atheletic scholarship envolved but did not want to say how much. The reason is there is two other recruits that have not given an answer and if they don't or say no that will add to my d scholarship. The coach and us agreed to go home and think about the school and the team before we decide. The coach said she would contact us. It has been a couple of weeks and have not heard any thing. The team has been on the road the past week. how long should we give the coach before we should make contact

I would call that coach right away - “just checking in”. Continued communication is key, in my opinion.

Mayhew is spot on! Keep the lines of communication open, don’t wait for the coach to call.

I second, uhhmm, third mayhew’s advice.

I would be concerned if both of the other 2 recruits commit. Not sure what year in school you are but if you are of the year that the coach can contact you and has not for a few weeks, its a red flag.

Continue to pursue other schools, continue to go on other non-OVs until your D commits. As Sherpa and Mayhew suggest have your D call or email the coach to get a status of their “quasi-offer”. If it is a wintersport in season that may explain the 2-week silence. However, continue to be persistent with this school/coach and continue to pursue other schools would be my advice.

If, after talking to the coach they offer your D, I’d suggest another visit to the school (if it is convenient) to be sure this is the ONE that she wants to commit to. This is a huge step and 4 years is a long time. Good luck.
