Unofficial Visits

What goes on during an unofficial visit? Do you typically meet some players from the team that your getting recruited for?

Our experience was that we were greeted by the coach but then turned over to admissions for a tour and then meeting. Then back to the coach for tour of athletic facilities, meet players in some cases, attend game if appropriate (they can give you up to 3 tickets to a sporting event I believe) then meeting with the coach to discuss where we both stood in the recruiting process. Verbal offer that was later accepted came during 3rd unofficial with top choice school.

Ours was similar to squide’s. Did the information session/tour of school. Then met the coach. Then had tour of facilities, etc.

We fit in a meeting with the coach either before or after the regular admissions info. session and tour. The meeting usually took about an hour. Sometimes the coach would show us the facilities, but often not because his/her office was right there near the relevant places. We never met any team members except if they happened to show up at the coach’s office when we were there. We did not watch a practice or meet, but I suppose that could have been arranged had we asked.

In my D case…it was dependant upon the arrangement. She attended some that were quick clinics. Then she had lunch with some of the team and a tour and admission info session. Others were arranged by us. We met with the coach(s). Got a tour of the athletic facilities and school by team member. A few other times we visited on a traditional (non-athletic) junior day. Then my D met with the coach. We also went to a few games and emailed the coach that we were going to them. She was pleased to see my D. Thanked her for supporting team etc.
