UNR vs CSUEB

Hi, I would welcome anyone’s input on this! My child is deciding between University of Nevada, Reno and California State University, East Bay. UNR would be at WUE rate, and CSUEB would be at in-state rate. My question is which college would give the better education? Are they both considered about the same education-wise? Is it worth paying a little bit more for the WUE rate at UNR? My child is not sure what the major is yet. I’m just curious if one college is better than the other, or are they both equal?

In most programs, they are of similar academic quality. The proximity to the SF/Silicon Valley would probably give EB the edge for technology-centric degrees.

UNR is somewhat more residential so would offer more of the classic ‘freshman’ experience. Housing will also be significantly cheaper in Reno than the East Bay. That may offset the ‘out of state’ premium entirely.
