Unreadable handwriting

I have a real problem. My handwriting is unreadable. This isn’t one of those “my handwriting is a little bit difficult to read” sort of things. I can’t read it. My notes look like messy Arabic. My parents and I have talked to a family friend who suspects that I have dysgraphia, but I’ve never gotten an official diagnosis. We would get one, but it’s already too late to get any accommodations for the AP tests or the SAT/ACT.

This leads to my question. What happens if the readers for one of the tests are unable to read my essay at all? Do I just get a zero? I’m aware that the readers are supposed to take the essay to the table leader, but I’ve also heard that they often don’t, and I wonder what happens if the table leader can’t read the essay either.

Does anyone have anything for me?

I’m well aware of these rules. The trouble is that we have no official diagnosis, and it’s too late to apply for an accommodation anyway. Thanks for your input though!

Can you even print legibly? I’d work to get the diagnosis anyway – you probably want to request the accommodation in college to use a computer for notes in class and all written assignments/quizzes/tests.

I think you will get a low score if it is really illegible.

Can’t print legibly. I have an accommodation in the classroom, but the college board denied my application.

There are professionals who can help you improve your handwriting or printing in a few lessons. I know several students who have benefited. See if you can find such a person in your area.
