Unsteady GPA and its affects on Admission

Hey guys,

I had a question about GPA, and i really need your input on some of my problems (shall we say). First of all, i'm from Canada, so our GPA system is a little bit different. It is as follows:
86-100 A 4
73-85 B 3
and the rest doesnt' matter because i've never really gotten anything lower than a "Canadian" A. So i calculated my GPA through 4 years (starting in our sophomore year as Canadian High schools run for 5 years).

I then used the conventional American GPA system...
90 - 100 A 4
80-90 B 3

My equivalent Freshman GPA was 3.7
my equivalent Sophormore GPA was 3.8
My equivalent junior GPA was 3.5
and my equivalent Senior GPA was 4.0

THe majority of my courses have been honours, and in parrticular, half of all my courses in my junior and senior year are APs. However, in my junior year, i received 5 Bs, from AP Macroecon, AP Microecon, Physics 12, AP Physics, and English lit 12. (All of which were 88/89<-- really kills me). In terms of rank, i was 20/450 in grade 11, and i'm 1/450 in grade 12.

The schools i'm applying to include:
Brown
Northwestern
University of Chicago
Washington U in STL
Johns Hopkins
Cornell and Princeton

Despite my slip up in 11th grade, how much will the admissions office care about my GPA?
my overall GPA over all 4 years is 3.76. Relatively, the marks are hard-earned, as my school is Canada's most academically challenging.

Daniel

Ps. I got into McGill (Top school in Canada and 20th in the world) by early admission

daniel hahah we really shouldnt have used our email addresses haha

but dont worry, they take in our school's system. so and 86 will be an A!

so i guess you have a 4.0 you lucky bum :P

Sorry, but it's a myth that they will consider your Canadian B's as A's. Frankly, with a slate of B's in junior year admission to these schools will be tough.

It would be helpful to know the full picture with SAT and AP scores and EC's. Some other than Brown and Princeton may be possible if everything else is stellar.

What is Canada's most academically challenging school, I can think of several that might claim the title and what's your overall rank?
