Unsure how to format a certain short answer question?

“If you could meet a character from a book or a historical figure, who would it be and what would you ask them?”

It doesn’t ask “why”, only who it is and what questions you would ask. Am I supposed to answer this like I do the other short answers (straightforward) or do I have to be a little more creative in my response?

Start off straight forward, then elaborate why you chose them. Yes, be creative. They want insight into your character and thought process. My opinion only.

Would you go against just simply asking questions to the person I’m referencing to? In other words, writing it out as if I was talking to the person I was asking questions to.

I wouldn’t recommend limiting your answer to “simply asking questions”. Though it answers the prompt succinctly, it doesn’t give insight to who you are. Take advantage of every opportunity you have to show different facets of yourself.

For example:

  1. I pick Jesus. I’d ask him why he made me.
  2. I’d ask Jesus why he chose to create me the way I am. I’ve always wondered why I have such a strong passion for the less fortunate. I see Jesus demonstrate that same heart to other people in the Bible, and I wonder if he gave me his heart to do the same to people today.

Regardless if you agree/disagree with the content, the second answer gives much more insight into the personality of the applicant.
