I qualified for USAMO and finished calc 3 and linear algebra in 11th grade.

I got a B+ in differential equations in my freshman year of college at a 4th tier university. I skipped nearly every class due to poor time management and my frequent failure to get up at 7 AM everyday. It's the first time I've not gotten an A in math.

It really irks me. Several MSTP programs at medical schools specifically require differential equations, like Harvard. I've already signed up to take summer classes this summer (yeah i'm also doing other medicine-related things too). Should DiffEq be one of my summer classes so that I can show that I can easily get an A in it? The B+ really bugs me.

No - you should never retake a class you don’t have to retake

“I skipped nearly every class due to poor time management and my frequent failure to get up at 7 AM everyday.”

Did that and still ended up with a B+? … get over yourself?

I would retake it, you’d need at least a 3.8 to get into any med school anyway, otherwise you don’t really have a shot at doing anything with your life.

the situation: Check your facts.

Don’t retake it. Take other math classes of you like. Getting an A after getting a B+ isn’t a shocker. It’s like it wouldn’t be a shocker to shave a few seconds off your time after prepping for a marathon the second time around.

You should retake it. And then once you get an A, you should retake it again the following quarter. Getting 2 A’s to replace your one B+ is better than just 1 A since it shows that your A wasn’t just a fluke.

I hope situation and azngamer are joking.

Were either of those comments not blatantly sarcastic enough for you? You can’t get much more overt than those… c’mon now…
