Unusual applicant: Please chance me!

<p>I'm a freshman at Lynn University (in FL) and I'm planning to transfer next year. I have always wanted to study business at Stern, yet my poor highschool record stopped from applying. Since I'm doing much better in college, and I think I've proved my academic potential, I decided to give it a shot now! My highschool GPA was a 2.7. :(</p>

<p>I'm an international student from Spain. I'm not applying for aid.</p>

<p>My major is business administration with a concentration in marketing, and I also have a minor in public relations.</p>

<p>Objective:
Current GPA: 4.0
SAT I: 780 CR, 750 M, 800 W
SAT II: 800 French, 750 Literature, 770 German</p>

<p>Subjective:
Extracurriculars:
1. President of Creative Writing Club
2. Vice President of Business Team
3. Member of Speech and Debate Team
4. Member of Best Buddies, organized several events on campus.
5. Raised $5000 for Pencils for Promise (a community organization to promote education in Central America and Asia)
6. President of International Affairs Society
7. Blogger for iPulse (our student newspaper)
8. Member of Cheer team
Others...this isn't an extracurricular I do at school, but...I started an organization (in the summer after I graduated) to help lower-income students in their search for universities and to promote higher education. Basically, what we do is we provide advice, study materials (we've donated SAT Prep books, etc) and we serve as "college counselors" for them.
Job experience: Worked at a local finance firm in Spain (back when I was in highschool), did a 2 months internship for Merrill Lynch. I recently had an offer for an internship with Edelman in Miami (a PR firm), so I plan on doing that too!
Summer Activities: Volunteering.
Essays: Everyone has said they were great and very unique.
Teacher Recommendation: 2 from two professors; one from my employer at Merrill Lynch
Interview: Plan on doing one...Even if I have to travel to NYC, I will.</p>

<p>Other:
Country: Spain
School type: Private
Ethnicity: White and hispanic
Gender: F
Income bracket: 200k
Hooks: You tell me! :P</p>

<p>So...should I even try to apply? Or is my awful highschool GPA going to get me automatically rejected? Any other schools you would recommend for me?</p>

<p>P.S: I don't want to go to Stern because of the prestige or the ranking. I have actually done a lot of research, and I know it's the right school for me. Stern has a lot more opportunities, and I want to be in an environment where I feel academically challenged.</p>

<p>It’s harder to get into NYU as a transfer than as a freshmen.</p>

<p>Because you’re only a freshmen, NYU will also need your high school transcripts and will consider them relatively equally with your college record (as you’ve only done one semester in college).</p>

<p>While your SATs are good, and your current GPA is good, your HS GPA is really going to kill you.</p>

<p>It’s definitely a high reach.</p>

<p>^I would apply as a junior.</p>

<p>So you won’t be applying until next year? If that’s the case, this thread is relatively pointless as your GPA from this semester and next semester are unknown factors.</p>

<p>Also, NYU doesn’t do interviews.</p>

<p>^But if I can keep this GPA, do I have a shot?</p>

<p>*keep up…</p>

<p>Of course you would have a chance</p>

<p>^Thank you. I do know that if you apply as a junior transfer, your high school GPA doesn’t count as much, as they put more focus on the college GPA…that’s why I was wondering. Hopefully they’ll see my improvement as a good thing!</p>

<p>Bump…</p>
