So I have already applied early to Harvard, and was wondering about whether or not I should upload a certain document in the additional uploads section of the Harvard applicant status portal. I have used this space to upload an article in the newspaper about me and something else regarding an extensive community project that I did, but I came across a framed project that I did in my mom’s room, from the sixth grade. It is a self portrait along with a short poem about the things I like, my fears, ambitions, characteristics. The interesting thing is that in the poem, I wrote, “who plans to go to Harvard;” remember, this is from the sixth grade and the date is clearly marked on it. Would this be a unique and helpful thing to scan and add to my application, or is it too “edgy?” (My self-portrait has a sideways hat on and a gold chain, from my being an annoying attention-seeking sixth grader). I am open to all suggestions, although it is important to note that I am not looking for this to be a critical piece of my application, as I am already a qualified applicant - 1550 SAT, 4.0 GPA unweighted 4.58 weighted, solid extracurriculars. I just wanted to know if this was something that an admissions counselor would see as unique and display my lifelong dream of attending Harvard or if it will simply be scoffed at. Thanks!
It does not demonstrate your fit for the university, just that you had heard of them as a middle schooler.
Do not send.
Noooo. Sixth graders want to go to Harvard and want to be doctors until maturity hits. The " lifelong dream of Harvard" is one of the worst reasons to apply honestly. Good luck!
I think that the other 6500 SCEA applicants would think it’s an excellent idea, because it will be less competition for them.
Seriously though, no. Just no. Good luck.
Avoid temptation to keep sending things and just sit on your hands. Your application in terms of supplying them with what they have asked for is enough.
Thank you everyone
