I have a quick question about teacher recs for transferring.
I am definitely planning on getting one from a professor in my major, but I need another one too. I am thinking of getting it from my computer science teacher even though I did not do so well in his class. However, I went in every Tuesday for help with programs from him and I got a tutor. Do you think it would be a good idea to get one from him or should I get one from a different professor whose class I did well in?

You don't HAVE TO have an A in the class you're getting a rec from. However, this teacher should be able to say something good about you. If you think your prof. would discuss your perseverance or determination or something, sure. However, just getting tutoring because you're not doing well doesn't make you an exceptional student, it just shows that you care. If you've managed to overcome a challenge of some sort by persevering and studying hard against tough odds or your professor knows your strengths exceptionally well, then he can write the rec so long as it reflects that aspect of your education. Otherwise, might be a good idea to seek it elsewhere

Thank you! I did really, really well on the programs from the labs that I went in for help with, but tests and such were/are extremely difficult for me and I don't get the best grades on them. CS is something I just don't understand :\
I think I may ask another professor.
Any other opinions?

I agree with Violaghost. Something to try: If, from your limited experience with this professor, you think that you could "trust" them, go and ask "could you write me a GOOD letter of recommendation?" Most professors I've heard talk about this would strait-up tell someone if they couldn't. It might be an awkward situation but, assuming that this is an honest person, you could get your answer strait from the horse's mouth.... There's a lot more than just grades.
