I have a question regarding scholarships. My daughter was accepted to the Honors College and was told in her letter to be on the lookout for her Honors College scholarship offer coming in March. She has received her scholarship letter from UofSC, but nothing from the Honors College itself. So, is the one she already received all she will be offered or will she still receive an additional scholarship from the Honors College? Thanks!
That’s it. There are scholarships you can apply for. But your merit offer is the guaranteed scholarship.
Yes, as tsbna44 said, that’s it. Nothing more coming from Honors College.
In fact Honors has an $1150 yearly fee. So not only is there no scholarship but there’s an entry fee.
Oh wow .thanks for the info. We didn’t know about the Honors fee.
I had no idea there was an Honors fee!
There’s the Honors fee and a lot of Departmental fees as well so look on the website for your specific department/degree.
I think there’s also $1000 Capstone fee. My friend’s son was admitted to Capstone 2 years ago and there was a Capstone charge on her bill. It makes sense bc of the extra activities, but don’t fool yourself thinking the $500 is a “bonus!” Ugh!
College of Engineering and computing fee is 3000/year,crazy
I agree! I was shocked when I saw that.

Any idea what is this weighted average program fees are??
Plus Honors college fee on top of this and also ridiculous amount of departmental fees. Wow!!!
My guess is that the weighted average program fees are a weighted average of the departmental fees… so it’s an estimate based on the number of students in each program. So if engineering has a small number of students with the $3000 fee and the fee for another department with a lot of students is $500, then the $500 gets a much larger impact on the average than the $3000 does.
Most engineering schools have fees - Alabama on the other hand, with a 30 ACT, gives you $2500…but that’s unusual. Most have fees.
I imagine it’s like law and graduate business school. Your outcomes are likely far superior to a hospitality or anthropology major, so you can afford to stretch financially.
So do u think we have to pay the program fees plus the departmental fees?
1500+3000=4500 for the Engineering department
Wondering the same
My guess is no, that they are one and the same, and that the weighted average program fee is just a way to estimate for everyone what an average cost of attendance will be. But I haven’t confirmed that with the school.
So fees for engineering will be higher than that weighted average, but some other programs might be lower? Is that per year or semester?
Correct that some can be higher or lower. Those are per year. You can look on the website for the specific department fees that would apply to your student based on their major.

I just got my scholarship letter. So I think there is an additional one.
An additional what?
