My field of interest is pharmacy. However since I am a sophmore transfer, I won’t be able to sign up for the accelerated program. I got in as biochem major. Is it still worth the money to go to that school? I am still waiting on UCI and UCR and was waitlisted in UCD.
I’m a freshman admitted for bio, wondering the same thing really. Pacific is a very good school, but more input would be great
Unfortunately, this board isn’t as active as some of the other colleges. I don’t think you will get much more input than what has already been posted so far - especially with the May 1st confirmation deadline looming.
That is true
Have you contacted the pharmacy school to discuss your options of applying to the PharmD program later on after you have finished up your bachelor’s degree? They should be able to give you some more insight as to how many COP applicants they have who are not apart of the accelerated program.
@kgos16 Actually, I have not! I will definitely contact them about it! But still, the school itself is very expensive and it is likely that a UC can still open doors to many opportunities relating to my field. UC can still get me into a good pharmacy school just like UOP, but with cheaper cost! Still quite undecided yet :S
That is definitely true regarding the price - but if you can afford it, it is a great school with a great pharmacy program. However, you will need to do what is best for you. You can always go to the UC and then attend UOP for PharmD in the future.
@kgos16 that is what im planning to do im waiting for the other UC decisions to come out. Im currently a freshmen at ucsc, but I dont like it here haha
I got admitted to UOP for the 2+3 pharmacy program, and will be going there.
However, I would only go to UOP for the program since it is super expensive (as you know)
I have to take a lot of loans
So yeah in your case I would just go to a UC, and then go to pharmacy school after.
Get a super high GPA and PCAT score though, because pharmacy schools after 4 years of undergrad are very competitive to get into. At least the UOP Pharmacy school is, since they reserve so many spots in their school for accelerated students in their pharmacy programs.
@ElisaNguyen27 Still waiting for other UCs! Thanks for your advice! If i did manage to get into UCR or UCI, I will definitely go to either of them
Hi @ElisaNguyen27 !
I am a high school senior and I am very interested in the UOP 2+3 year program. However, I have a lot of concerns about it, particularly about being able to finish all of the prerequisites in two years. I fear that I will not be able to take classes like organic chemistry and biology in the same semester while maintaining a 3.0 GPA. I wanted to ask what your experience with this was? Were you able to complete all of the prerequisites in two years?
Also, I would like to ask you what your SAT and GPA were when you applied to the program. I have tried to obtain the average SAT and GPA from UOP but they haven’t given me significant information. I hope you can!
