Are you tired of doing the same boring, tedious volunteer work? I was. I am going to be a senior in high school next year, and in 2003 I started an email newsletter, called The Grandparent Connection, that connects grandparents and grandchildren. It goes to seniors in all parts of the United States, as well as Canada, Australia, and the UK.
Now, I’ve been doing most of the writing for the newsletter, but my readers seem to like dynamic editorial pieces. Who would be better for dynamic writing about teens than CCer’s?
If you’d like to have a unique volunteer activity on your resume, as well as help genuinely interested older people, PM me. I’ll give you the website for the email newsletter.

NO! I'm telling you, this is not a "scam." I just can't post any credentials because CC doesn't allow personal emails/websites. It's a very real organization that I started myself--and I'd really like to get some more teens involved. Send me a private message and I'll give you the website address.

I've looked around my school, but most people are just too busy. They're a little too cutthroat too--besides, a new perspective is always good. I'm working on increasing the national readership, which means that kids writing from different parts of the country is a good thing.

Well, like I said, in 2003 I started an organization to help grandparents connect with grandchildren. For two years, I printed newsletters and handed them out at local (for me, Portland, Oregon) senior centers. At the beginning of this year, I decided to switch to an email version because it was getting too expensive to print.

It's not like I would mind, but I want a certain caliber of writer. It just seems like most CCer's are committed to what they do and would be perfect.

Depends on how good it was. :) Just kidding...about 1000. Depends on how many of the people forward the newsletter to other people, and I can't track that.

Volunteering is fun sometimes, but other times it gets boring. I am kind of tired of volunteering at my town's library. I feel like I should though.

Very. It seems like colleges look for volunteer activities more and more as there is less and less to separate very qualified students. And, just like colleges like girls that show iniative and start their own businesses, colleges like boys that "show a soft side" and volunteer. Seems rather sexist.
