hey guys, I’m not really looking for a “chance me” but I was wondering how you guys felt about this:
i don’t have a very good SAT score (1490) and I’m planning to take the SAT II tests since I did pretty poorly on the ones I took before (bio: 700, math II: 750)
i’ve been qualified for intl science fair competitions and i have a few state and regional science awards
i’m #3 out of ~1300 kids
…but i’m asian
I know undergrad doesn’t mean much if I want to go to medical school, but it’s difficult to think that way when I’ve worked hard for the past 4 years and I see how everyone else is Siemens finalist, Intel ISEF 2nd place, RSI, tennis national champion, debate national champion, etc.
i just don’t feel like i’m unique enough. i also think my scores are too low to even get my foot in the door and get colleges to give me a second look. what do you all think about my thoughts?
I think that with all of these college searches, it really is up there in a crap shoot. I do have a couple questions, though. A rank #3 is a great rank out of 1300 kids, so that stands out.
i do science fair and idk i’m all right at it. the highest i’ve gone is intel isef finalist and a special award from isef. and i also dance traditional chinese dance (not competitively but i’ve been doing it for nearly all my life). i also do quite a lot of volunteer.
idk i don’t think my ec’s are great either. i really only mainly do science fair and volunteer. i feel like everyone else has science fair + some sport they’re state or nationally ranked for
