Ah, books. At his first math camp, my S brought a copy of Non Campus Mentis, an anthology of bloopers culled from history blue books. The following summer, his chums all came with their own copy and used to quote from it to one another and fall about laughing. I don't know what they'll do this summer.

After such a roller coaster ride I hope it's all downhill, at moderate speeds, from now on. Susan, remember to take care of yourself, too. (A few years back, after my S had emergency surgery and I'd had four nights of "sleeping" at his bedside, I went out to my car and, instead of backing out of the parking space, put the car in drive and drove into a cement wall.)

Hey guys, I don't have much time now and I owe an update in light of all your thoughtfulness and caring. I will do that as soon as I can. But I just want to tell you that my D is going home today! She will be on bed rest for nine more days and a hospital bed is being delivered to our house this AM. I have lived here at the hospital for ten days so it will be nice to get home. From there, I should be able to write and tell ya how it has been going! More later....
Love,
Susan

That is such wonderful news! The best!

Soozie:

Good news keep coming in. The weather down here is good although on the cloudy side. I hope the ride home is a smooth one. There's nothing like being able to sleep in one's own bed and be in familiar surroundings. And it will save you these 100 miles round trips!

Hallelujah!

Great news!!!

Soozie: please let me know if your daughter is accepted to CMU. GOOD LUCK!!!

Sue G from NYC

Congrats on Tisch!!!!!

An older friend of S is a senior this year and is wild about the program. She has already gotten roles from auditions, and she was on the short list for the lead in Webber's new musical - truly, Tisch is a "fast track" destination for the talented.

Great news, Soozie!! And congrats again on Tisch and the other acceptances.

Soozie,
Excellent news..... to expand on Marite's comment.....for you, nothing like sleeping in your own bed, but for your D, nothing like sleeping in her OWN hospital bed....LOL....

amazing how upsetting the original note was on the accident....and now, fast forward for us, she has already had surgery, been visited by her sister and is going HOME! There is no doubt someone was watching over your daughter and your family.... and I am so happy for you that you will have all your chicks back in the nest soon.....I will continue to urge you to take care of yourself, ask for help.... let others do things too... or just let some things slide because come next fall both girls will be out of the nest and you can pick up the daily to do lists then.....

my surgery years ago made me realize how dangerous it was to sneeze, more so than laughter..... a comedy that I saw on a bus last year that made me laugh out loud was Connie & Carla....about 2 friends who do show tunes at a bar at O'Hare... end up on the lam, in West Hollywood, performing as "guys in drag" and it is really funny and touching... Connie is played by the gal Nia Vardalos, who was the star in My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Because of your daughter's excellence in theatre, you all might really love this movie. Great news about NYU/Tisch.....it is so wonderful for our children to have choices. That is all I wanted for my son....and he had excellent ones.

Take care and hugs to the entire extended CC family who reacted so viscerally to this family's experience. It is kind of exciting to know that we can touch one another without knowing one another except electronically. Knowledge and experience is powerful and CC is a vivid demonstration of which voices resonate. Soozie's has since I started lurking over a year ago.. still makes me want to visit Smith....cause I think I joined at the height of the Smith discussion and visits. Someday I may even meet D1 cause the Brown ski team sometimes bunks on my road at Sugarloaf.... the father of the coach has a condo by us.... my freshman son looked for them recently while at the mtn during spring break, to no avail....perhaps next winter.

Best wishes ...

Susan, there is no place like home. :) Glad to hear all of your good news. ((((slugghuggs))))

Susan,
glad you are all 'homeward bound' - virtual balloons and flowers to D2 (and D1 for being such a good sister). Congrat's on all the fabulous acceptances and $'s!

That is great news! YAY!

Susan, I'm sure you'll both feel better at home. That's wonderful news.

HOME---that is fantastic news! Cyber-hugs and kisses to your D!

Going home is the best news yet!

Susan -

The big "Whoooosh" you hear is the collective sigh of relief of 200 or so of your virtual friends.....

Susan, how wonderful to be going home! Since I missed the first week of this roller coaster ride, it does seem like a big whoosh to me. 10 days in the hospital, ICU, surgery, the phone call. Read all about it backwards in time. What an experience! Thank goodness she is recovering and will be fully recovered. I am still in shock about this whole thing and she is going home! Take care of yourself as well. Lots of good wishes from here.

What a relief! Hospital time moves in a different reality, doesn't it?

So pleased your DD is making good progress--and getting good news from MT departments!

More blessings from Oceania....
