Soozie: I see you haven't been posting much recently and I assume you're tending to your daughter. Wondered how she's progressing after her accident?

I just heard about a local girl who died last night as a result of a car accident. In high school she was student body president, homecoming queen, academic all-state in lacrosse, soccer team, peer facilitator, freshman mentor. The car she was in (in the back seat) was broadsided by another car and she was thrown from the car (she wasn't wearing a seat belt). So incredibly sad. I cannot even begin to imagine what her parents are going through right now. I gave my kids the seatbelt lecture one more time. They rolled their eyes but I made them look at the picture of the crushed car to drive the point home.

My own daugher had an emergency appedectomy this past Saturday night. This was one time I was so glad we only live a little over an hour away because we made it in time before she went into surgery. Yes, it was a fairly simple surgery but it was her first surgery and it's always nerve-wracking.

Both these things reminded me how lucky some of us can be sometimes when you consider the awful possibilities. And it made me think of your daughter, who while she has a long road to recovery ahead, is going to recover and you get to enjoy her life as she goes through it.

I was thinking the exact same thing! :) I was driving my daughters home from play rehearsal this evening (MT makes me think of soozie's D!), and I decided that I would post this! Y'all beat me to it! Soozie, hope things are improving quickly for your sweet D. Please send her regards from my whole clan....love, ~berurah

I totally missed the part about your D's emergency appendectomy the first time I skimmed this post! I am sooooooo sorry that she (and you all) had to undergo such a frightening experience! I am glad that you were able to get there so quickly and be with her prior to the surgery. I hope that she makes a full recovery very, very soon. Please pass along my best wishes! Take good care of your sweetie!

Fredo, I'm sorry to hear about your daughter. I hope she is feeling better. Give her a big thumbs up for me :) I always buy a goofy plush flower to give to people when they're in the hospital. They smile and everything.

Soozie, my daughter just saw your letter on a message board (she was in OTC with your D the last few summers) and called me right away to tell me. I don't know if you remember me but I met you last summer on visiting day (I'm the one whose son goes to Brown). We both were shocked but relieved to hear she is expected to recover fully. We both wish her a speedy recovery and hope she can get back to pursuing her dreams asap. Congrats on her acceptance to Tisch! How does your older D like Brown?

I'm just adding to the chorus of good wishes for your daughter, fredo, and the concerned but positive well-wishers hoping for good news from soozie soon...

You guys are THE BEST....I will try to get online later tonight and catch ya up...things are going well...I gotta run at the moment.....will get back to you ASAP, Love, Susan

I send many good wishes, too. You have been missed around here! Son is going to Brown this weekend for his first visit. Looking forward to chatting with you about it when he gets back!

Fredo, I had a pause today when a friend from high school who I haven't talked to in many years emailed me out of the blue. He lives in Indiana and told me about his older daughter who is a freshman at DePauw, and went out for rush, but in the end decided not to pledge. Of course, I had to ask him if he was married to Fredo from CC. (Not you though! - that would have been too twilight zone to handle)

Sorry to hear about your daughter's appendectomy --- she really is having a tough year. I will keep her in my thoughts/prayers.

And, Susan, you and your star are in mine heart as well.

Fredo, sorry to hear about your daughter. Things can only get better for her! Is she coming home for the summer so you can spoil her a little? Good wishes.

Susan, glad your D is on the mend and I'm sure she's getting excited about college. Hope to hear more good news.
