Update Insurance Waiver each term

Just thought I would pass this on since students are starting to register for classes for spring term.

If a student at FSU is on their parent's health insurance and chose to waive signing up for the health insurance plan through FSU, their waiver must be updated prior to class registration each term. Blackboard will not allow registering for the next term without this waiver update in place.

I thought it was on an annual basis

Thanks for the heads up Skibird. I thought it was for both semesters and would have missed it. Appreciate the information as it clearly was asking for the spring term when I checked our son's.

Today, we found out the hard way when d was trying to register for spring term so I thought I would pass on the info and save some students (and possibly parents) the anxiety attack.

After reading this a few minutes ago, I IM'd my s. He said that he registered for all his classes today and wasn't asked for another insurance waiver.

Tarhounm-you said you looked and it asked for it. Where did you see the request?

I think this requirement only impacts students who started attending this year. Run a registration stop check to see if there is anything preventing registration before your window opens up.

My son is a freshman and he had no stops or warnings.

i'm a freshman on my parents health insurance plan, and registered yesterday without any warnings or stops...

I checked and my son does not have any stops either...I called the school and they said as long as everything was filled out correctly the first time it should be good for fall and spring. If he goes to summer session he will have to renew it before he registers for classes, otherwise he will renew before registering for fall classes. Hope this helps.

When I clicked on the waiver it gave me an option for spring. Our coverage runs Jan - Dec so perhaps they needed to verify we were still covered. I completed it as better safe then sorry when son goes to register.
