Hello everyone! I hope all of you are having great experience in the heat of college auditions. I wanted to give a quick update on my BFA acting audition experiences!

TOP CHOICES:

FSU- I visited FSU and auditioned there. It was a nice theater, but I felt rushed by instructors and not a proper introduction. It was more of "You know why you're here, so does anyone have questions?" kind of approach. I reached final callbacks but did not gain acceptance to the University because I'm one foreign language credit shy (and i'm taking it over summer). At my callbacks they asked me to do my 2nd monologue (From White People by JT Rogers). They (fellow students) applauded, laughed, and seemed into the performance. Then I talked to the current students afterwords, and they were very engaging. It seems like a very great school though, even if I didn't get into the college.

SYRACUSE- I fell in love with the campus and town while there. The college has a very warm feel, and does a good job of encompassing both musical theatre and Drama students. I am awaiting a decision, and felt welcome by the students and staff. I did my monologues and he thanked me, made a remark that I remind him of a young Neil Patrick Harris, and then I left.

SUNY PURCHASE- This is my top school I'm hoping to get into. I visited the campus before the semester started and got to talk to some of the staff. It's a very competitive and work like atmosphere at the college. There's 4 rooms, one for each class, and then they have a black box, a beautiful recital hall, and an amazing stage. I had to audition in atlanta. They had me do my two monologues and sing. After doing that, they pulled out a video camera, and asked me to do some slight modifications. Then they had me do it again. Afterwords they thanked me and I left.

ALABAMA: This is the only school that I auditioned for Musical Theatre in. The campus is just gorgeous. The students also seemed very tight knit, and were very welcoming to all the hopeful auditioners. The theatre is bare bones, but was still modern and nice. The training there seems top quality, and the instructors were very polite as well.

AMDA: I know AMDA is a touchy subject, and most people are either hot or cold on the subject. But I will say they DO offer a BFA program, and the campus in New York was very work oriented as well. Even if you believe that it's "SCAMDA", the talent that has gone out of there is very impressive, and I am definitely interested in the school after my audition. I was accepted last year, but decided to finish my AA before I transferred anywhere.

UCF: I auditioned at UCF last year and was accepted as well. This school is very minimal in size of rehearsal space, but they ARE dedicated to getting their students jobs when they graduate, letting former students work at the college, and attempting to establish connections up to a year after graduating. There is a lot of opportunities for students to work outside of school, as Orlando is a hot spot for performing arts. Whether it be Disney, or The Orlando Shakespeare Company, there are multiple opportunities to work in the school are very high, and they are a very performance based program.

I will say I was impressed by all of them, but SUNY seems like the right fit for me. However, since I know not the fate of my auditions yet (except FSU because I didn't get into the school because of that language requirement), I am not expecting anything, and am excited to find the program that best fits me after letters are sent out! They are all great schools.

I wish you the best of luck in any endevour theatre related this semester!
