I have lots of connections with UChicago, both of my paternal grandparents went there and I also have an uncle on-staff at Pritzker.

Well then...I'd say you have above a 50% chance. But then again, what do I know, I don't work in the admissions office.

thanks -- anyone else with input?

of course you have a good chance of being accepted. just make sure you thoroughly research the school, don't get all caught up in what other people think, make sure it's the right place for you.

hmm -- anyone else out there willing to comment?

I'm pretty sure I will apply EA, the eccentricity of the school (as well as its application!) seem to match what I desire in a college -- an atmosphere of learning in order to broaden horizons.

bump

I would really appreciate some help.

Thanks in Advance

Just make sure your essays reflect that you're an individual who has thought about the scheme of things, your place in the scheme, the scheming itself, and if one schemes in the woods does a tree fall:)

Seriously, you sound interesting and thoughtful, just let that shine through. Aspiring gave you good advice.

that's what I hope to do ramses (thanks for the words of advice!). I really do think it is the right place for me -- however, as both you and aspiring said, I must make that clear to them (the admissions committee). I've been in contact with my admissions counselor, John Quinn, since the beginning of junior year -- hopefully that helped. Nevertheless, my grades, test scores, EC's have to be on par with other applicants because there may be a kid who is just as passionate about UChicago as I am, but he or she has higher scores,a 4.0 UW GPA, better ECs, etc. So that component of admissions worries me a bit.

^wow. I just realized how long my explanation was... o well :)

looking for all the input I get. Anyone else willing to comment?

The Individual

P.S. - To a point I think college admissions has become unhealthy. The worry kids put themselves through seems as if it is not worth it. Que sera, sera

Since this is a ridiculously long post anyway, I think I should add that I was also able to shadow a General Internist at Brigham and Women's Hospital (Harvard Med Teaching Affiliate) this summer -- since I think I will do pre-med, it gave me a prospective of what it is to be a doctor.

if you got through this post, I commend you for your endurance and stamina :)

still looking for some validation :)

Totally agree with ramses. If you enjoy the essays, you should be fine.
