When I look at your ECs, mostly all i see is music, which really isn't that bad...but when applying to most of the schools you listed, your passion is really really important. I can see that you are interested a lot in music, but you want to major in something else, which is only seen a little bit in your profile.

Anyway, you're definitely in at UConn, and most probably in and Colby and Colgate. The rest are all crap shoots. Just try to get that SAT up to over a 2200, and in your essay show them somehow why you want to major in classics and linguistics. Because like I said, from your list of ECs, I mainly just see music.

Thanks sak09!

Music is my passion, and I will definitely continue it in college even though I'm not majoring in it. I don't know what kind of Classic/Linguistic-related ECs I could have done, besides Latin club, which really doesn't do anything.

But I'm retaking SATs in October, and I hope to get over a 2200 on that.

Any more suggestions?

i am only a Junior but this is what I have heard, and since my school is a prep school I am pretty up to speed on the college thing. I really like your ECs and think that any admissions person will see that you are very talented, which they love. Your SAT score, like mine is a little low but if you bring it above 2200 I think you will be fine. Your courses are good but not phenomenal considering you will be up against kids with 8-10 APs, but I think the fact that you are number one pretty much wipes my previous statement out. I would say definite to Cornell, Colgate, UConn, Colby. 75% chance for Penn and Dartmouth and you have just as good as a shot as anyone else for the top three but they are so random, if they are looking for a musician than you are in, but who knows, they might be in the mood for something else, so I cannot say anything but you are definitely qualified.

Honestly, HP are totally unlikely. Great being val but they reject most vals because there are a ton of schools where it unfortunately doesn't mean that much. Even at 2200, you will be competing with many Asian applicants with stroger scores an national level music accomplishments. Gordon, ivies reject most vals, it matters WHERE you are val.

Unless you are from a small state where applicants are hard to find, I'd say the Colby/Colgate level schools are a good bet.

Thanks for chancing me!

I actually think you are a pretty unique applicant. Mallet percussion and target rifle seem pretty unusual, especially for an Asian female. Your grades and rank obviously help you. The internship is pretty neat too. Have you done much volunteering?
