First, thank you for your list! It is the single best list I’ve found for MT majors, and I’ve been advising arts students for over ten years.

I just have a small correction regarding UCLA’s admissions process. Students do audition as incoming freshmen or junior transfers.

Students apply to the university during the month of November and indicate their interest in a MT major

UCLA’s regular admissions office processes the applications, and all students who are UC eligible are forwarded to the School of Theatre, Film, and Television. These applicants who were cleared by admissions are then invited to audition in January, and the final choice is made on the basis of the audition by admissions officers within the School of TFT. This means a student with only a 3.3 GPA, but a superior audition, would be more admissible than a less talented student with a 4.2 GPA.

Students admitted as incoming freshmen take a more generic theatre program their freshman year and begin the specific 9-class sequence of musical theatre classes as sophomores. Students as incoming junior transfers immediately begin the 6-class musical theatre transfer sequence.

Thanks again for all your work on the list,
Carolyn
