have you tried the SAT? or maybe the ACT again? a tad higher score (33+ or 2200+) and you’d get into some of these schools easy. right now, your chances are pretty good considering you’re top 1%.

Thanks north_face, I haven’t tried the SAT yet but I’m signed up for it in June. My PSAT score was only 206 though, with my trouble really only being math. I will try to get that up.

But are there any schools that I most likely will not get in, in your opinion? I know the Ivys are ultra reaches but I’m willing to send in an app or two.

I know that JHU’s biggest major is IR…could studying abroad possibly help my chances?

Sorry your Mom dropped you on your head. Only about 97% of the colleges in the United States would regard your application favorably. LOL

IMO:
UofChicago is a reach.
Hopkins is a reach.
Middlebury is a reach.
W&M is problematic for OOS.
Your others are a pretty good fit.

Do not respond to the following, I do not need to know; Consider your financial aid situation. Endowments are still going to be tanked next year. If you need aid lower your sights. If you can pay cah, raise them.

Practice, practice, practice helps math!!!

Thanks, BigG, although I don’t entirely understand what you were getting at in your first line :-P.

Thanks also for the reality check haha…I will add more safeties to the list of course…

Have you seen ay Foghorn Leghorn cartoons?

“That’s a joke son, I say that’s a joke” delivered in a loud raspy booming voice.

My point is that all but the very tippy top schools would love to have you as a student. Some of them might give you a chance. Stranger things happen in college admissions.

I listen to asian kids at my D’s prep school and read stuff on line. I realize you may have prestige issues because of your parents. Do not get fixated on the Ivies. There are a lot of good schools where you can get a good education, make a lot of money after you graduate, and do something you like with your life. Hopefully all three.

Man, an Asian that can’t do math is like an African American that can’t play sports or a redneck that can’t fix a car. Are you sure you aren’t rebelling agaist a very postive ethnic stereotype?

Note the math team at our prep school consists of three Asian young men and my very Caucasian D. Come to think of it, I am 1/8 Cherokee and Native Americans are genetically Asian (or close). Make that my mostly Caucasian D.

‘Man, an Asian that can’t do math is like an African American that can’t play sports or a redneck that can’t fix a car. Are you sure you aren’t rebelling agaist a very postive ethnic stereotype?’

i lold :stuck_out_tongue:

i think you have a good shot as most schools like bigG said  but yea, try to raise the standardized scores  maybe do some volunteering this summer :)

lol yeah im taking calc but i can barely do the math on the SAT :-P. i guess im a rebel

but yeah, its not really a prestige question. I mean, I think i have a pretty good shot at OSU so i figured why not try some more selective schools. I didn’t just randomly throw them on my list though; all the schools I chose had to have a decent IR program.

ns89, thanks for the advice and the three smiles :-). im hoping that some of my essays that i write while abroad about my experiences will help me a lil so i dont just seem like the typical applicant.

bump. anyone else please? :-)

no takers? ill chance back
