Current opinions on dorms, student life, and surrounding area

Sorry this is probably too late for your child’s decision, but for future applicants I will give my S’s experience. He was in the honors dorm which I had hoped would mean he would live on campus all 4 years, but he chose to go off campus sophomore year, which is quite common. He claimed the food was the reason. His furnished apts were about $700 a Month, but he spent a lot less on food than the meal plan.

He is a Game Design Major and found a nice group of friends to hang out with. The immediate surrounding area is fine, he felt safe going from his apartments to campus by scooter, bike and shuttle bus. His apartments were very close to campus and for students only. I don’t think he was thrilled by the wider area, but had friends with cars to drive to the grocery store, etc. He has been very happy with the school. He does not do much in ECs, but has friends who did intramural soccer. He did not do much in ECs in HS either, he is mostly a game playing kid.
