Upenn 2017 Hopeful Transfer

Hi everyone!

I am hoping to transfer to Upenn the fall of 2017, my sophomore year. I am just looking for any guidance when filling out my application and an indication as to if I am a competitive candidate.
Current College: University of Tennessee Honors College
GPA: 3.86 Major GPA: 4.0
ACT: 28 (should I retake this? I am confident I would do much better.)
I am currently interning with ESPN-U and The Volunteer Channel
I am a member of the American Marketing Association
I hold an officer position within my sorority

I have extensive leadership experience dating back through high school I can include on my application but I am mainly concerned about how heavily my high school GPA will be weighted on my application? Will your high school GPA make or break your chances when applying to an Ivy? I know they must need to weed out candidates somehow. If so, should I wait until my junior year to apply when my college GPA can be weighted more heavily?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

If it’s a holistic admissions process then your high school GPA weight will depend on how many units that 3.86 college GPA is out of. If all they’re judging you off of is 3-4 classes in your first semester then your high school GPA is a fairly recent analysis of your academic performance.

I would recommend re-taking the ACT if you think you can do better. The freshman admitted students middle 50% range of ACT scores was 32-35.
