UPenn Admission

I have one legacy: my dad went to UPenn for his masters.
So, on a scale of 100, 0 having no effects and 100 being the only factor, how much does a legacy affect your admission?
And I only had one, which was for graduate school, so high are my chances?

That you are a legacy (undergraduate parent or graduate parent) makes a difference if you apply ED. My understanding is that it is less relevant or perhaps not relevant at all if you apply RD.

Penn accepts nearly half its class ED, so in addition to the legacy advantage you will have a general advantage if you apply ED.

All this said you will need to be a strong applicant with stats ideally in the mid-range of accepted Penn applicants to have a reasonable chance of acceptance.

I’d estimate legacy playing a role of 20/100. Basically, it might help if you’re a borderline case but that’s the extent of the push. In the end you still need to be a good Penn applicant to get in.
