Upenn Columbia, Yale NYU

<p>I would appreciate it if someone would give me an idea of my chances at some of the most selective schools:</p>

<p>Top two choices are Upenn and Columbia (loved both schools when I visited them)</p>

<p>Will likely apply ED/EA to one of these schools.
Will also apply to harvard Yale, Darthmouth, Georgetown, Wash u-st louis, NYU, U michigan ann arbor, Boston College (other reccommendations?)</p>

<p>I am a rising senior at a competitive private school in Arizona.</p>

<p>GPA: 4.0 UW and 4.4 W</p>

<p>SAT (likely retaking this fall)
800 M
680 CR
680 W
=2160</p>

<p>SAT II
800 Math II
760 US HIstory
650 Chem
640 Bio M</p>

<p>ACT= 32 Composite</p>

<p>AP Exams
5 Calculus AB
5 European History
5 US History
5 Biology</p>

<p>I will be taking a total of 7 AP tests senior year.</p>

<p>ECs/stuff:
Varsity Letters in Golf cross country and Basketball freshman and sophomore years. (transferred to a diff. school for jr. and senior year)
Speech and debate 11 + 12th grade-won some awards
won a few awards from my school
Community service in low income hispanic housing project- 50 hrs.
Teen Court Attorney</p>

<p>Any input would be greatly appreciated!</p>

<p>I figure I probably don't stand a chance at Harvard or Yale. I think my match schools are Upenn, georgetown, and NYU (with good essays and recs I should be in these schools). With U michigan's acceptance rate, I should definitely be in there as a safety.</p>

<p>ivies are reaches for everyone. so Upenn is definitely NOT a match, but a reach. georgetown is a slight reach, a reach nonetheless. </p>

<p>bland ECs, no hooks, low test scores.</p>

<p>ED UPenn/Columbia: 30% chance</p>

<p>yeah, you really need some type of hook, you're hookless!</p>

<p>Columbia is just about as hard to get into as H and Y. We don't know you're class rank so how much of a reach theses schools are is difficult to determine, but the ivies are all reaches.</p>

<p>I don't think my school ranks, but I am in the top 10%. I figure Upenn is prob my best shot considering early acceptance rate is something like 34%. What would be an example of a good hook?</p>
