I found so much on campus at Dartmouth that I didn't miss the city at all. Its the warm and fuzzy college experience of the bunch.

The food is best at Cal, by a mile.

Much richer, more diverse and stimulating campus experience too. Some great dorms too, like Clark Kerr for your first two years and the International House for your last two (beautiful mediteranean building with Golden Gate/bay views).

One of my roommates at Cal went to JHU, had good things to say about it, but he loves it much more at Cal (he's a molecular bio postdoc).

Hopkins is the combination of city environment (like Penn) and small school (like Dartmouth) so if you’re looking for the best of both worlds - it’s probably Hopkins.

Baltimore, Philly or the Bay Area hmm personally I would prefer to be in the Bay Area (San Fran/Berkeley)

Dartmouth is its own animal because its a small town in a much smaller place. If that is what you want then go there.

What does the financial situation look like?
