how often does adcom look at social media? do they look at every single applicant’s one
Does anyone know of anyone getting into Penn ED without having an interview. I get the sense that if you do not get an interview for ED, Penn may defer you to regular and hope that you get an interview then and evaluate you after the interview. I know Penn says it does not count against you but I would not be surprised. Anyone know?
@Klayy Why would they do that? They take 15 minutes to read each file. After first reads one can guess 50-80% are already heading for the rejection pile simply based on the contents of the file itself. They’re not going to scroll through people’s twitter or FB or snapchat. That’s absurd.
Now if this was a job interview and you were whittled down to the last handful of applicants, you can BET they’d view the people’s social media.
@Uspanther The admission and interview are two parallel processes. Whether or not you are interviewed will not impact your chance of admission.
I agree not having an interview will NOT hurt. Having a bad one might. I don’t think they count that much, but obviously it’s better if it goes well!
Most interviews will not affect your chance, unless there is some Major things discovered in the process and not included in your application.
I just called the admissions and they said that I wouldn’t get an interview then…
@Arronn so what did you ask admissions?
Just got contacted for a virtual interview today. Hopefully it goes well!
Had my interview over FaceTime this evening.
Bottom line is don’t stress at all. As long as you have a reason for wanting to attend Penn other than it being Penn, you’re good.
Let your interests and passions speak for themselves, and work to keep the conversation going.
Good luck!
For what it’s worth, my S’s interviewer said that Admission used the interview mostly in cases in which they were on the fence, for additional data.
For those who still have to go, just be positive, be yourself, and be able to articulate why you want UPenn and how you can add to the UPenn community.
@USPanther I told them that my interview didn’t happen because my interviewer didn’t show up at our scheduled time.
Hey guys, which school are most people ed’ing? SEAS, Wharton, SAS or Nursing? I assume SEAS and Wharton are the two most competitve schools.
Just had my interview. My advice is don’t stress and be yourself. It’s just a casual convo. My interviewer told me before interview that it will count like less than 10 percent towards the decision, and he might be overstating its importance
Just got contacted for my interview. It’s scheduled for Monday noon. Can’t wait
How long do the interviews usually last?
@masquerade98 Anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour and 30 minutes I believe. Mine for Penn was around 50 minutes while the other one was around an hour and 15
My interview lasted around 1 hour and 20 minutes… it was a virtual interview
interview was 30 min and casual
