From what I gathered over the phone with an admissions rep:
If you apply ED to Penn, you are permitted to apply under an early-notification program at another institution so long as it is not binding and the university is not private.

@2021Hopeful It’s my understanding that Tulane is a private university.
@nikhil99 @lrowyun http://www.thedp.com/article/2016/09/early-decision-policy-reverts-back-to-original-program
You are both wrong
@2021Hopeful damn lol… My bad
@nikhil99 I found out about the reversal the day before my school’s deadline to send docs to Tulane
so I realized I made a spelling error and had a dangling modifier error in my essay do you think I’m effd
apparently the plural of passerby is passersby not passerbys lol
@2021Hopeful yeah dude that’s crazy… I was soo sure about not being able to apply to another private.
Whatever though… the only other place I cared about was public so I applied anyway
@2021Hopeful Congrats on the Tulane scholarship…and good luck with Penn. I would just leave it to fate and if you get into Penn, that’s where you are meant to be, and if not, Tulane is an excellent choice too especially with all of that money!
@m0ledog I think you are ok with that error…easy mistake and they may not really know themselves if it is correct or not. And honestly, might show them that you really wrote your own essay and didn’t have it over edited. I think you are fine. The content and the message are more important. That’s not a blatant error due to carelessness.
also did anyone opt to send 0 or 1 SAT subject test instead of 2? I just sent one good Spanish score and opted not to send any others because they were below 700 and am worried this might affect my chances. My test scores (AP, ACT) are strong otherwise though so maybe I’m overthinking it.
As I have said many many times on this site, it a college rejected every application with a typo, they could not fill the class.
so cornell’s decision come out december 8th, harvard the 13th, and brown the 14th. i hope penn is the week of the 8th!
where’d you get that info @Dartmouth_21
@klayy the respective ivy threads
can you link them @Dartmouth_21
@Dartmouth_21 I thought all the Ivies release their ED decisions on the same day?
hey all this is my first time posting on here… Basically my question was how much will not having an interview harm you/if at all? For some reason, the 6 other kids applying to penn at my school received interviews, but I did not. I’ve been checking my spam inbox for weeks too, and nothing seems to pop up. Do you think it’s a matter of the interviewer being lazy or just that penn couldn’t schedule one? TIA
@masquerade98 The Ivies release on the same date in the spring. For early decision, they all choose their own dates.
@desie1 Oh okay, I see. Thanks.
@qwertyw98 Not having an interview will not impact you at all. Honestly, interviews don’t even matter that much. They’re considered a pretty small part of the application as a whole.
Hello all! Stopping by from the Princeton EA Tread! Hope everyone is faring well in anticipation of their results. What drew you all to Penn?
@m0ledog I had something similar in my Common App Essay. In fact a lot worse. Some words were cut in between the sentences. I emailed penn explaining them about this problem and sent them the correct version of the essay. They replied back that they had updated my essay with the correct version. Probably you could do the same!
