UPenn ED Class of 2021 Discussion Thread

Assume EST? Obviously…

How do you think they’ll interpret new sat vs old?

This process is crap. So much emotional involvement in something you can’t even control. I feel this whole HS and college admissions process has been one big hamster wheel. Trying your hardest and in the end you might be rejected because you are not a mandolin player and they needed one. Depressing.

@AF500 @fgomez98 oh god i relate so hard… told myself i wasnt gonna tell anyone where I applied ED then ended up telling everyone

@clh7699 lmao, well I am in moco too. I’ll pm u :slight_smile:

I seriously cannot even focus in school anymore… I’m supposed to be studying for a huge AP Physics test but I keep taking breaks every 20 minutes to check my email, the portal, and this thread!! Decision day better come soon because my grades are going to suffer lol

Sometimes I dream of starting my own college. It would revamp this entire system. I’d have automatic entrance for specific SAT/ACT. And others could apply also. And I wouldn’t have so much focus on EC, and all decisions would be blind. So they wouldn’t know your race/gender. Open to all 50 states and Canada/Mexico! (Okay I’m a dreamer…)

Is anyone a QuestBridge finalist here?

Guys,

It’s honestly going to be A-okay. We have put in so much work these past four years, via grades, testing, ec’s, all hoping to feel like this insane amount of work we have done has paid off. Trust me, I am freaking out, but after many many tears and constantly listening to the rejection whispers, I honestly know that I have done my best, we all have. We have done our ABSOLUTE BEST these past few years, and that has made us all amazing people. So if UPENN doesn’t work out, oh well. It will definitely suck for a few months, but come April, we will have tons of amazing offers from amazing places begging the amazing people we are to be their students.

Good luck guys <3

@AF500 I personally like the fact that specific SAT/ACT aren’t a judge and the focus on ECs are there. Schools look for leaders to nurture. With ECs they can identify people who work well with others and are able to make an impact on their team (i.e. leading). And SAT/ACT is one test, and no student should be denied admission because of a simple test score. The current system, in my opinion, works very well and is the reason schools are able to efficiently produce many successful alumni, which is their job. But of course, each man/woman to him/herself so there’s nothing wrong with giving your idea shot

To get our minds off of finding out the date of decisions soon, I have a very serious question for everyone: white and gold or black and blue?

WHITE AND GOLD

WHITE AND GOLD

black and blue always!!

Vikings season 4 is back lmao

@plshelpmicollege I see where you are coming from, but just scrolling through the rejection feeds of colleges, it just seemsthe whole processes is messed-up and incredibly random. So many heartbroken amazing achievers, who had no reason to be rejected. I’m not convinced ones record of ECs shows what kind of student/person they are. (Interviews do a great job tho, IMO). I like quantifiable numbers (even if ironically mine aren’t that great

@plshelpmicollege the whole process just seems cruel

Wow hella lurkers now hahhah. Welcome!

Also, WHITE AND GOLD!

@clh7699 I am also applying to USC (by Thursday)! What school/major are you applying to/for?
