UPenn ED Class of 2021 Discussion Thread

@financemajor37 Probably biochem! I guess it’s pretty obvious what major you’re applying for haha

So what are y’alls stats and major ECs?

This thread is honestly the only thing getting me through these long days. I am so glad we have such a strong support group going on and I want you all to get in!! The other ivies’ threads seem dead and/or cut-throat. So glad things are different around here!! <3

Also, I’m a little late to the party, but if I don’t get into Penn, my other choices are USC and CMU. I was accepted to Pitt, so I will go there if everyone rejects me  Fingers crossed.

@clh7699 actually I’m not applying for a finance major!! I am applying for Real Estate Development and will minor in finance if I get in! lol (I would ultimately like to double major with both, but I’ll settle xD)

@financemajor37 so true, this is a really active thread and really strong too, with a lot of positivity which is essential. Also, very cool major, sounds great :).

My second choices are Yale and Columbia but honestly my chances of getting in at either of them are even less than Penn :frowning: and in response to the question about stats, SAT is 1560 (single sitting), ACT super score is 35 (two sittings), GPA is a 4.39, National Merit semifinalist. Major ECs are 4-year varsity starter for lax and soccer, work 25 hours a week, FBLA officer, AHA Treasurer, BCSPCA Junior Volunteer, etc.

I think everything will be easier if I at least know the day they release the results. Right now I have a countdown to nowhere

@AF500 Oh yeah there’s no lie that the whole process sucks, and many do deserve better. I guess that’s just life, but hopefully they all go on to bigger things! Let’s just hope for the best, and pride ourselves with the hard work we’ve done. No matter where we go, we still busted our butts!

@plshelpmicollege very inspirational :)>-

When you tell people you applied ED to Penn, do they ever mistake it for Penn State? This happens to me all the time

I’m applying to USC by tomorrow too! Good luck @clh7699 @financemajor37

@financemajor37 I smile and nod, in order to temper expectations. No point in bothering to correct. Besides it’s good practice for what you’ll be doing if you get admitted, anyways for the rest of your life:)

@AF500 I totally feel you right now! I feel like I can stop obsessing over this thread and admissions by a little if they would just release the decision date.

@killingmeED nice! You look like a great applicant! Which school at Penn are you applying to?

@andpeggyy I for one, believe the rumors it will be released tomorrow. (I hear it was last year). Probably around 9 EST. Everyone thinks it will be the 9th or the 16th, but I think they will screw around with us and make it some thing like the 12th…

Well I think we all have a lot to be proud of because the fact that we are even applying to Penn shows we have accomplished a lot more than the average student in high school. And while many of us here (I’m sure I will be one of them) will not get into Penn, all of us will end up somewhere and I promise everyone will LOVE their new home. So, because we are all extremely stressed, I hope this brings you guys some destressing because we all need it. Wherever we go, it will be a great school, and we will be very happy there. Best of luck to all of you and remember, if it isn’t Penn, you’ll still LOVE college.

Does anyone think being an “untraditional” will be an advantage. I have mediocre scores (low 2100s) but I graduated with honors , HS two years with British Columbian diploma. I really wonder how much they will value that… bc of that I don’t have a lot of ECs. At least post HS. And that worries me

@skiing26 Aw thanks! Definitely a message everyone needs to see!

@doorrealthe Thank you! I’m applying M&T with a secondary to Wharton, but everyone applying is so smart and qualified, and sadly we’ll never really know what goes on in admissions’ officers’ heads, so it could really go either way! I’m a little worried since my unweighted GPA is a 3.78 because my grades slipped last year when I tore my ACL, but my counselor decided he was going to make that fact very clear because he was very troubled by it despite my asking him not to let it consume his letter. I’m a double legacy but since I haven’t donated a library, I’m not sure how much weight that will carry! Honestly my biggest concern is that I haven’t done much research until this year or started something whereas a lot of people have done lots of research or started a business or had some incredible internship, and I haven’t done any of that…

@AF500 Watch them release it this Friday. I would be so excited yet so scared, haha. I actually want it to be released as soon as possible so I can get this part of the process over with, though I’m still trying to convince myself that I’ll be fine no matter where I go.
