im so nervous y’all xD omg omg omg plspenn
Bottom line, if you don’t get in it will suck, at least at first, but sometimes the best things that happen to us are things that don’t happen to us. It’s not where you go that will decide your happiness and success in life, it’s what you do with your time there. Congratulations on all of your accomplishments so far and no matter what remember this is just the beginning of your story…
does having a low income mean lesser chance of acceptance?
someone just asked me if they could borrow a pen and I just started freaking out and asking what school they applied to at penn…this is great. T-30(ish) hours!!!
No, @Chipotlegurl28 , Penn does need-bind admissions, so financial aid is handled completely separately from admissions. If anything, coming from a low-income background could be a hook if you wrote about it in your app because Penn is trying to round out its applicant pool.
@Chipotlegurl28 @tryingtodecide22 Penn does need-blind for all applicants from US, Canada and Mexico only. Other international applicants are not considered need-blind. http://www.admissions.upenn.edu/costs-financial-aid/financial-aid-at-penn
@Senator18 That was so beautifully said… thanks…
@wildesfeuer that is such a relief. i just hope its true. have u heard the same?
Do we get to see our financial aid package right away if we get in or do we have to wait a while?
@wildesfeuer that is such a relief. i just hope its true. have u heard the same?
I believe it should be right away if you met the deadline of turning in the documents, however I haven’t looked at the site since I turned it in so I may be wrong.
@yoharamona It should be right away or soon after you acceptance because they need to know if you are going to attend by Jan. 9 and the only way you can get out of an ED acceptance is by citing you can’t afford it
@collegeboy2319 Yeah lol mother went to the faculty/alumni Fridays and met with one of the directors of admission
since we’re all freaking out about decisions coming out tomorrow, y’all might find this essay about the yale admissions process from a former interviewer comforting…or just something else to think about. I really liked reading it. https://mathwithbaddrawings.com/2015/09/30/why-ive-stopped-doing-interviews-for-yale/
(I know it’s yale, but I think it could definitely apply to all selective schools)
@alwayssunny25 aw i really liked that article, thanks for posting it its really helping me not be so hard on myself for this whole thing
@wildesfeuer what did they say to your mom
I AM FREAKING aksfmlf 28ish more hours
Do you guys think that a recommendation from a professor and previous admissions director will greatly increase my chances?? I’m not sure how much weight that kind of stuff holds, i’m just freaking out and second guessing everything at this point
That article made m feel oddly better about my chances for some reason. I have so many “almost hooks” as I like to call them where it is a killer letter or a sob story where now that I know I have the stats I feel like I could get in
