UPenn HOUSING!!

Congrats class of 2016.... now to the question of housing.

Which dorms are you guys considering/recommending? Which are you NOT considering? and why?

And of course there's the question of those residential programs...

My daughter is a freshman living in Fisher in the quad and loves it

I’m considering either Harrison for the FreshEx program, Kings Court for the STWing or somewhere in the quad.

I put the quad dorms as my first choices  and then like hill and stouffer and jigs court but I’m not sure what order.

Either Riepe for ISP/BFS (if I can get in :S), Harrison for FreshEx, or Ware.

For freshman housing, put Quad first, then high-rises, then Stouffer. And then hope you get one of them.

The rest are so awful, they’ll make you cry (no kidding). :)

guys guys guys, Fisher or Riepe?

How is W E B Dubois college house?

@Jlaine10125: I didn’t live in Dubois my freshmen year but I have heard from people that the dorms are fairly nice and spacious and there is a very strong African American community present.

Yea, I’m a rising senior planning on applying Early Decision and I think its good that there’s a dorm dedicated to our history. I wasnt sure how nice the rooms were. One thing I don’t want it is to feel self segregated though because I love my people but I want to meet people of other ethnicity too. Do you think it would be difficult for me to stay in Dubois the whole 4 years?

@Jlaine10125: If you get into DuBois freshmen year, then you really shouldn’t have any problem staying for the entire 4 years because in housing selection, the current residents of a college house have priority and are almost guaranteed a room. The rooms are fairly nice-I would say not as nice as those in the high rises (only in the sense that the high rises are newer) but definitely a significant step up from say the quad or hill. Don’t worry-you will definitely get to meet people of other backgrounds/ethnicities. Dubois is near the high rise area so you’ll be able to meet tons of people there and then there’s always academics classes and extracurriculars:)

Thanks! I was worried about all of the negative talks regarding the dorms, regardless I was going to apply early decision. The pros most definitely outweigh the cons!
