Hey guys, I have my Upenn interview today… and I’m totally unprepared!

Has anyone had their interviews yet? Any tips? Suggestions?

My friends told me to ask a lot of questions about the school…about the social life, atmosphere, teachers, etc. But I still don’t feel ready.

What kind of research should I do on the school? I mean…if she asks me “why do you want to go to Penn” I wouldn’t know how to give an “intelligent” answer… Honestly, i just want to go becuz it’s an Ivy, it’s in Philly, and it’s a good distance away from home.

Help please?

be youself, dont try to beat the interview, you will look scripted and fake

I had mine Wednesday and felt that it was truly a comfortable experience and I even really enjoyed it! The alumni interviewers are really passionate about the school and it was great listening to the ways going to Penn have changed their lives. If I were you, definitely come up with better reasons why you want to go to Penn.. the fact that it's an Ivy and is in Philly won't cut it.. they want to see that you truly love the school and have researched it extensively... Also, be yourself! Good luck, I'm sure you'll do great!!

I asked my interviewer "Was it easy?"
He didnt even laugh at me.

Do you have any areas or majors you are interested in? You can tie Penn's strength in a department you are interested in. Opportunities to take classes in the other undergrad schools is unique to Penn, as well as being in a city, yet part of a campus. If you know anyone who went there, you can mention that and how it influenced you, too.

how long ago did you submit your application before they contact you?

It doesn't matter. It depends on availability of your local alumni.

For ED, it seemed like they were interviewing right up until the end (practically til decisions came out!). Not everyone gets one though, maybe about half do.
