Is there anyway to escape the four-year lang requirement. I’m pretty sure it’s four-years anyways. I want to get into whartons. Thanks for reply guys.

i dont know if its a requirement but im pretty sure ull be at a disadvantage if u dont take it...maybe ppl applying take an AP lang (myself) and that could mean up to 6 "years" of a lang. 4 years is usually the benchmark in every core subject and I think a 2nd lang should be considered a core subject. I could be wrong but this site is loaded with ppl with at least 4 years of a language.

4 years of langauge is a pretty normal requirement for all top colleges. It's like math, science, english, etc. However, I think you just need to go to level 4 and not all 4 years of high school.

Yeah, it's definitely level 4...because I exhausted all language classes (6 total) in my junior year. Anyway, it's going to probably look very bad if you don't have 4 years of a language.

i took spanish until 10th grade, passed the regents then i took 2 spanish classes at a local university. Is that good enough to be done with language? If not then i think im gonna be learning a new language in college :)

I remember hearing that you need 650+ on the subject test (if available) to place out if you don't have AP credit. may be wrong tho...

that's true abhim, it's 650+ to place out

Does the language requirement include all languages in the world or just a few major ones?

Any language you can think of. Spanish or Swahili, Portuguese or Pashto...go nuts!

I thought the language requirement was only three years for the top schools. Oh, well, I don't care. I have taken all the Spanish courses offered at my school.
johnnyK--LOL. I don't think I ever heard of Pashto or Swahili for that matter. Anyone care to elaborate?

Pashto is a language primarily spoken in Afghanistan, Swahili is spoken in parts of the great country of Africa.

^ lol nice one JohnnyK
