Hey guys and gals, I've got a phone interview coming up for UPenn and it's my first and I'm pretty sure it's my only interview. I'm a bit nervous even though it's only over the phone and I'm not the best conversationalist. Any tips/suggestions? Also, do you guys remember getting any of those "curve ball" questions during your interview? I'm just afraid of getting stumped and not knowing what to say if one of those come up. Thanks.

Hi. I’m a parent of a Penn student. My d had her Penn interview over the phone. There were no curve ball questions However, my d prepared a very short, concise outline of some discussion points/questions (just in case). She, too, was very nervous and we were actually with family friends so she took the call at their house. I believe it lasted about an hour and I know that she asked about the campus and city etc. At that point, we had not visited the campus.

In terms of getting stumped, I think it may be ok to say “I need a few moments to gather my thoughts”, Additionally, she asked her interviewer about her job and how Penn prepared her for that. Best wishes.

Hey, thanks for the response! I hope your d’s interview went well. I think I’ll go ahead and prepare a little outline too. Thanks again.
