hey everyone! some of you must have already read this , but if not, here’s an amazing article that’ll help you
through penn and other decisions!

all the best to all of you!
I guess I am being IMPATIENT! Accepted to U of Chicago and Wash U! SAT 2280, GPA 3.55 on a 4.0 scale from a very tough school, very strong extra curriculars and strong recommendations including one from a U Penn alumn! What do you all think?
@rrhelp, congrats on UChicago & WashU. Great SAT score, but definitely lower GPA. What is your class ranking and how many AP/IB classes did you take? I think if you rank in top 5% of your class then you have a great shot at Penn, top 10% is still pretty good if the EC’s and Recs are a great as you say they are.
@northstarfx You are making some major assumptions. Placing a lot of faith on stats. Check the ED threads. Lots of people with 2310, 4.0 GPAs and high class rank were rejected. The days when you can predict success on stats are well over. None of those are things that will make you stand out.
@rrhelp You were accepted by UChicago and you are waiting on Penn? Why? Chicago is fantastic.
12 APs. Would U Chicago be better than U Penn? Planning on Math major at both places!
I am interested in a career in finance. Both are great schools and I am absolutely blessed to be accepted by U of Chicago. I am told that U of Chicago is for intellectuals who are more interested in academics, and U Penn is more for real world job oriented folks! If I don’t get into U Penn I will be thrilled to go to U of Chicago. If I do get in, confusion begins!
For all here who are a little stressed, some comic relief -

@Momof6PA oh my gosh that is great! Thank you for sharing…it was just what I needed today! “Wharton: The Fragrance”…lol
Hey guys…just a general question… do you guys think Penn compares you to other applicants who applied from the same high school…like a couple people from my high school got in at ED…will they compare my app to theirs or will our apps be judged separately.

Oh god that is just hilarious. Thank you @Momof6PA
Probably shouldn’t have gone to the tough private I did, in retrospect. I fear that I’m in the pool with my high school classmates who have better grades. Test scores for me have been useless.
@ethellou useless meaning bad or they don’t matter…cause I hope that my relatively high test scores matter enough to overshadow my subpar gpa
Rejected at UCs, CMU, WashU, UVA, Wesleyan, etc…
Do you guys think test scores will hurt me? I have a 32 ACT (33 Superscored) and NO SAT IIs. I applied for CAS.
So far, I’ve been accepted to Johns Hopkins and waitlisted at UC Berkeley (OOS) and Wash U.
Anyone applied to the dental program? What is a usual applicant’s stats?
If I got rejected from Johns Hopkins University, does that mean I’m basically “Out of the game” in terms of UPenn? I’m pretty worried because, though my application is really good, my SAT scores are EXTREMELY low (Only 1750).
@ethellou Same! I go to a public school with about 50% Asians. My test scores are good but my rank is horrible. Everyone is super competitive and it’s difficult to stand out. I should’ve just gone to the easy neighboring school.
