UPenn RD Class of 2022 Discussion

It’s crazy to think that thousands of students’ lives are going to be changed forever on Wednesday. Going to an Ivy holds tremendous weight and statistically sets people up for completely different lives than their non-ivy peers.

It’s a little fun though. Like opening a bunch of presents, even if you know they’re all just coal X_X

@LondonVall While I mostly agree that Ivy holds tremendous weight, I stand by the statement that the statistically differing lives are due more to correlation than to causation.
Also as someone stated before, you have already been accepted to Harvard which is absolutely phenomenal!!

I went ahead and made an ivy decision countdown, don’t know if you’ll want to check it out or not, but it seemed like a fun thing to do. https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?p0=179&iso=20180328T19&year=2018&month=3&day=28&hour=19&min=0&sec=0&msg=Ivy%20League%20Decisions%20RELEASED

I doubt that the UChicago thing is because they checked the special portal. So few people percentage wise are admitted RD that it makes it hard to tell if there is any sort of real causation/or correlation

@kcrag what do you mean? Anyone who was able to login into the UChicago admitted student portal was admitted and those who got an error were waitlisted/rejected.

Is Penn requesting IDOC for you guys?

@MaybeHarvard2022 They were able to do that well ahead of decisions being released?

@kcrag Yes. I was able to login 4 or 5hrs before decisions were released.

@beezkneez1 no, penn and princeton didnt request from me did they for you?

No, it doesn’t. At all.

@OHMomof2 Ivy graduates have higher incomes after graduation on average and are held in a higher favor to future employers because of the bias of the name on their diploma. It may not seem fair, but Ivy graduates are definitely given a biased advantage over other non-ivy graduates

Ivies have significantly larger numbers of industry and field leaders than other schools (sports excluded). Scrolling through the notable alumni pages of different universities shows us that though going to an Ivy League school may not be the causation, there is definitely a correlation.

MODERATOR’S NOTE:
I’ll assume that there will be no on-going debate on how much an employer values an Ivy League degree vs. a non-Ivy degree. (at least on this thread), but I would posit that many employers could not correctly name the schools in the Ivy League.

My dear, no worries. I know a young lady who was denied at Wash U, Yale and Duke, waitlisted at Brown, but was admitted to Harvard, Stanford and Vanderbilt a few years back.

Especially if you tell them what you were watching while working on the application. NOT. LOL

Yess Penn requested IDOC fro me, however I want to go to Brown and they did not request IDOC @lemonade22

Penn didn’t request my idoc  but Yale did…

I don’t think you can see every school that actually has your IDOC info. Brown obviously has my IDOC (from their portal), but it isn’t showing up on the CSS itself. The only schools showing up are Penn and UChicago (waitlisted). @musicandscience

@musicandscience when did they requested urs?
