UPenn SEAS vs. Columbia SEAS vs. more choices

I have been thinking over the past few weeks about applying to either of those ED. I need to make a decision fast...so anyone please help.

I want to major in something biology related. I have been doing an internship in microbiology and I really like it. But microbiology doesn't have a lot of math in it. I like math so I was thinking about biomedical engineering or bioengineering. I want to work mainly with genetic engineering.

Which of those will give better opportunities for research? Jobs after only an undergraduate degree? And also have a challenging curriculum/classes?

I am also looking for a safe and nice campus, with friendly peers and helpful professors and a nice cultural scene.

My other choices are:
University of Rochester
SUNY Stony Brook
Boston University
Johns Hopkins (to a smaller extent)

And is it worth going to an Ivy just for the sake of saying that I went to an Ivy.

Thanks any help would be appreciated.

Penn is definately more renown in bioengineering research than all of those schools except JHU. We also have a brand new Bioengineering building that will be ready for the entering class.

Penn also has a pretty good campus cultural scene. It feels a lot different from Columbia's so make sure you make a visit to get a sense of the campus.

bump...anyone else...

Stanford? (ten char)
