<p>yes they changed it, 250 words seemed absurd for such a question. My question is, would they be totally upset if my essay was 600 words.</p>

<p>the 500 maximum is just a guideline, they can’t actually see how many words you wrote when you submit your application, it just will be noticeable if yours is way too long or too short. write as much as you want as long as it’s necessary and doesn’t get too long. my penn essay is around one page, 430 words</p>
